Subject: RE: Geothermal heat pump

central - east central Minnesota -

ewandb - 2/27/2014 18:57 I have an Econar geothermal heat pump as a heat source in our house. We live in MN and have had a very cold winter. We are heating a 5200 sq. ft house. The last two months our electric bills have been $800.00/mo. I figure about 550 of that would be to run the heat pump. This is the only type of heat we have ever had so I really don't know if we are saving money over what natural gas would have been. I am wondering if anyone else is running a geo heat pump and what kind of electric bills you are seeing?

Do you have electric plenum back up heat (which is common with geo in Mn)? Off peak or special lower cost geo rate ?

Who is your electric supplier ?
I'd have to check with SIL, but their total electric house, runs much less then that. Not quit as many sq ft, but still less $$ comparable . . ...
