Subject: Commercial use of UAVs

Oswald No-Till Farm Cleghorn, IA
Greetings,

At recent Iowa Soybean Association On Farm network conference, I listened to an educator who had to jump through plenty of hoops to operate his UAV.

His cost $38,000 or listed for that. It would fly autonomously. Much of the cost was operating, control software as it could be programmed with a flight plan with the ability to generate corn plant level image resolution.

I caution publicly discussing "commercial" use of the UAV as someone is likely to get the crap scared out of them by the FAA and/or law enforcement. There is a lot of unresolved legal and regulatory code subject to "opinion" at this time.

The technology is pretty cool, interest is in an exponential growth mode and the cops don't know what to do about it.

My 2cents.
