| I have owned one for about 6 years now. Granted if they are still selling them they might be better. The first 2 years I felt I got reasonably accurate data.
On a typical 160a field we got about 1800 samples (about a sample every 8 seconds). In our spring wheat the variability was between 11% to 18%. We also used it to monitor protein / oil content in soybeans.
In wheat when soil sampled for nitrogen after harvest the high protein areas had high residual N and low, low N. The maps produced were very interesting and useful.
At the end of the 2nd year the accuracy became more erratic, and I sent it back to have it re-calibrated. Started out the 3rd year, it worked for the first several days, then again became erratic. Sent it back again, they told me nothing was wrong with it. Tried it again … very disappointed in the results.
Since then I disconnected it and haven’t used it since. The worst $10,000 spent. If you decide to purchase one I wish you good luck.
