Subject: RE: EZ Guide 500 W/EZ steer

North Dakota
The 500/EZ-Steer combo will steer within 2 inches of the commanded line 90%+ of the time on a tractor that has tight steering on it. The issue is that the WAAS signal is not good enough for some. WAAS is 6-8 inches pass to pass and can drift as much as 5 feet in a short period of time <30 minutes> such as when you fill the planter. It can be really bad if you run row clutches, you plant half of the field and quit for the night and come back the next day and the clutches turn off/on 5 feet from where they should. If you are willing to tolerate 20 to 40 inch guess rows and not using clutches this is a good combination and we have at least 15 farmers using this combination. We even have 4 or 5 that have 500 or 750 on RTK and use Ez-Steer to plant, no GPS drift very straight rows and guess rows are 30 inches.

edit for additional info
Just noticed you are from Minn. you should be able to use MNDOT Cors for RTK. Two unlocks for $4000 on the 500 and a way to get corrections into the 500, Smartphone and connectors.
