In looking for some mercenary trucking service, the rates just has to be high enough that they (truckers) don't worry about having to get a load going back to Manitoba or Saskatchewan. Probably 5.00 dollars per loaded mile and higher you will find all the equipment you need. However for a lot of US trucking companies having the drivers that can cross the border in to Canada is the challenge these days.
what are the legal weights in ND? If your only allowed 80,000, the it wouldn t take long at 5$ to eat up any price gains from shipping into the US, Fuel up here is 7$ a gallon in places, so if your hauling 300 miles loaded, 5 $x 300 miles=1500, 600miles round trip, if you average 5 mpg u will use 120gallons, x 7$=840$ not sure most guys are willing to haul a load for 660$ before any other expense, but I may be wrong, most guys up here are doing short hauls for 8.50 a MT, Super bees haul 44mt =374$ and only put 50 miles on there trucks, after that the rate goes to 10.50mt, most will do 3 loads daily, and they have been steady most of the time. A lot of grain haulers have gone out of business , as most farmers haul there own with older rigs
