redpower helped me with a similar problem. brand new 500 with uploaded vehicle configuration and it was sloppy pig or drunken sailor driving. Hold down button 1 & 11 while starting up the unit and it will force your GPS rate from 1 to 5 hz. that was my problem, actually it was Trimble's. It should have came to me at 5 not 1.
