We have installed many of these, but always over the internet using a cell phone connections in the cab. When using radios, you need to either match the 450MHz radio from TopCon or buy a matching pair. The radios have to talk the same 'language' to be able to communicate.

As for the model: In the past, the 900MHz have been the standard. These are license free here in the US. The 450MHz radios are the standard now because of their better penetration through tree lines. However, they do require a license here in the US.

If you are trying to match the TopCon 450MHz for the Ez500, make sure you can use a serial connector for data out. If you use a new pair of radios you need a serial connector on the EZ500 side and the TopCon base side.
