What if you did this...

To eliminate the need for room for your feet, and worry about moisture at the bottom, and get it at a slightly higher height, you bought some smaller casters. Also, if you had a project in the middle of the shop, maybe you could wiggle a certain unit out from under the "bench" and take it to another work area.

Might be over-complicating it but it would take care of a few issues other posters have brought up.

I might add bolt bins raised a foot or two eliminate bending over so far, but if too tall, you can't see in the top.
