| A rod goes through that pipe and attaches to a slide to let in the right flow. It can be shut off completely. We run it just a little faster than we combine, that way the leg that fills the dryer keeps the dryer full and so the dryer does not call for corn from the holding bin while we are combining. My wife does not have to get out to unload corn, but Usually gets out to test corn.
Some one asked if the tarp keeps the water out. It does, but water will condense on the bottom side. Water is not a problem because of the tile drain in the bottom.
We did think about keeping the old pit, but just built the new one bigger. Just one auger system to maintain and the old dump pit auger was not big enough to keep up with the combine. The old dump pit was as good as new after 25 years but was just to small. The new one is a copy of the old one, just bigger and all the improvements that I wished the old one had. | |
