Ford Dual Power units are pretty tough actually. This assumes you have adequate operating pressure and lube flow from the hydraulic system.
It is perfectly fine to use the DP as a brake, as it does not have an overrunning clutch in it. The only thing you can't do is rely on it to park the tractor with the engine off. It WILL roll!
