| I like what 260AR has done. We did something similar. Had a ball welded to a large plate removed from an old pickup bed. Cut it to fit, and drilled a few bolt holes and bolted it on. BUT FIRST, we put a heavy channel iron on so that it would run just underneath the ball, to help support the weight on the hitch. Channel is bolted to the sides of the chassis frame, and ball/plate is bolted to the topside of the chassis frame. Everything is mounted a foot or so back of the fifth wheel. Works so far. We don't go "over the road" with it, just use it to pull a tender trailer down country roads. The most load we'd have is 3000 gallons of fertilizer plus the tare weight. showboat | |
