We had a foot of snow on top of our central boiler and didn't melt very well insulated. The underground pipe that they sell loses ONE degree per 100 feet. That's nothing! I don't know where your pipe comes from but it wouldn't be worth putting in.


The installer used the Central Boiler approved insulated pex line. IIRC $15.00/ft. It's been below zero for a long time here, the ground is still thawed.
