I'm going to put this as politely as possible.He is a so so employee. That is the reason his hours are flexible. No one else wants him! In the past year he made dangerous decisions. What was his attitude when you confronted him in the past? If he just gave you the deer in the headlights look then I would be looking for a replacement for him as soon as possible. Trust me good employees are hard to find.
