North central illinois | If you have more than one hired guy make this one your new safety coordinator, don't give him a choice either, tell him he earned the position. Have him do a 5 minute safety meeting every morning where each guy tries to recognize the potential hazards they may encounter that day and how they intend to address these hazards safely. Then maybe a 15 minute safety meeting on Monday mornings where he addresses the rest of the guys with common safety issues that arise around the farm and things he noticed the previous week. You can probably get him into an OSHA 10 class at the local community collage for under a couple hundred bucks. I would think doing this would be cheaper than getting sued and your insurance man may ease your rates if he knows you have added a safety plan. Either that or this hazard on two legs will quit, either way better than getting sued!
