You could also argue that using "drone" for a crop scouter in time will help salvage the negative image some people get in their head after hearing "drone" in the media, but that's probably just beating your head against a brick wall because of the huge volumes of mass media dramatizing "drone". Nobody's going to want to call them a "UA-pickaletter" though. Maybe just say you're going to be crop scouting with the chopper and then when people ask about your chopper they'll tend to think it's cute when it turns out to be a "toy" one rather than getting creeped out by "drone". I'm tempted by the DJI Phantom 2 but have resisted the urge so far. It's still a bit complicated/expensive to have first person view while flying, quality enough pictures to be really useful, long distance flight range, great battery life, and return-to-base by GPS for when it gets flown too far because I KNOW I'm going to want to stretch the boundaries. | |
