Faunsdale, AL | The few hydrops amnion cows I have seen were more symetrically enlarged than that by the end of gestation. They looked more like the cow on the left in the picture, just bigger.
Hydrops amnion cows are a bad deal in my experience..........Might be best (if your Vet says that is what it is) to go ahead and butcher that cow now instead of trying to abort her or calve her out. Calving them out tends to be a lose/loose............loose the calf and loose the cow. There are some things you can try, but with a commercial cow and calf, I think I would salvage what I can now instead of trying for a live calf.
Like Mark said, could be an abcess, or a hernia, so you need a diagnosis soon, so you know what to do. | |
