Subject: ipad or yuma2 for recording data

Southern Illinois
I have a customer wanting to record where his spinner ditches are while he is making them this spring so that he can put someone else in the tractor this fall when they make them again and they will have an on screen line to follow with GPS so they get put in the correct place. His neighbor is using the Trimble Yuma 2 but it is rather expensive, I have no doubt it will be the easiest and work the best but it is out of his budget. I have looked into the GISroam app for Ipad but am unsure how it would work. I talked to a friend who was importing shape files into his GISroam and grid sampling but he was unsure how it would work recording the lines and then pulling them back up to drive by. Is anyone else doing this, if so what are you using. THanks for your help. Oh yeah, he let me know he was wanting to be ready to use it in about 2 weeks, I just laughed
