Subject: So are plastic panels a fire hazard on new combines?

West Union, Illinois

Glenn W. -  "Some also believe that static discharge sparks could be a cause of fires on the combine." ... A Case IH engineer came as well as a fire investigator who works with combine fires and they both attributed it to static electricity. ... The engineer was working on grounding the moving plastic on the combine to reduce static electricity.]/QUOTE]

So are the new plastic panels a potential fire hazard?  And I gather from reading below certain crops may be more of a problem than others.  I guess chickpea dust is more flammable?

Come to think of it, didn't the 8010 have a fire problem when it first came out?

Talk about the ultimate designed obsolescence!
