We were 100% APEX for a couple of years, but now almost solely use SMS advanced for all our green stuff. Apex doesn't really do much except show pretty maps and let you paint prescriptions. For deleting data from a layer I don't want I often find using the "invert selection" button in action tools is very helpful.
