| If the display is lighting up when you plunk your ass in the seat and the pedals free when you turn the key on... then the seat belt switch is fine.
The other key here is that it won't crank with the start/run switch flipped to service mode. If it was the belt micro, it should have started. What I would do is remove the cover from the engine fuse panel and check all of the fuses in there. If those are all good remove the cover from the relays to the left of the fuse box. IIRC, the one closest to the engine is the start relay... but I'm not 100% on that... and I'm not sure that those two are consistently placed in the same sequence. At any rate... the other is for the glow plugs. I'd just remove the cover and then use a pair of needle nose pliers to short the two studs on the relay and see if it cranks. Needless to say... make sure the brake is set and the travel sticks are neutralised.
That will likely make it fire. If it doesn't, check the signal wire to the starter and the primary battery connections. Bad starter or switch is most likely at that point.
