I agree with ISEEDIT. We had a "name brand". Had all kinds of trouble with it. I since have gone to a small guy in our town who makes his own. 1/3 the price and he services it. Definitely get one with on demand regeneration. If you have really bad water I would recommend renting/leasing (just a matter of time before you will have problems no matter what brand you get), that way they will deliver salt and replace/fix it when it goes bad. Also, once you have soft water, you will never go back to taking a shower or washing clothes in hard water.
