Subject: Re: Air dry bin question

SW Illinois
We have a 54' 70K bin with just a 30hp fan. In 2010 we filled it half full with 24% corn and ran 120F for a couple weeks, then couple more weeks of cool air before filling with dry corn the rest of the way. Ran the fan for another 2 months till harvest was done. Corn came out at 15% and looked good. Which is better then we did this year filling it with hot grain from a full heat dryer in one week.

The fan heater worked good and was easy enough to operate after working the start-up kinks out. I'm also in S. Illinois so our weather tends to be more favorable to air drying.
