It's not food vs fuel. It's food vs food and feed.
All an ethanol plant really is, a huge moonshine still that makes booze and feed for cattle and hogs
If this was presented to the general public right outta the gate and no mention of it also being a fuel source. Would things be different today? We might have to flavor it cherry or vanilla.
