I think its good to inject the 28 or 32% but concentrating the liquid in a narrow stream makes it soak in to some extent. Better than dry urea on top the soil. In my one test I dribbled the side dressing, 14 gallons of 32% side dressed, 16 gallons put down 2-1/4" inches from the row. 100 pounds of N from the liquid, 11 pounds of MAP spread beforehand. Harvested 173.2 pounds of dry corn that year from that limited N. High soil organic matter probably had an effect, and for certain choosing a corn variety that thrived on low N was a big benefit.

I did get a rain in a few days after side dressing. The lower leaves fired a month later than the corn in the neighboring fields that summer.
