If you're looking for a solution that doesn't involve traditional land leveling yet solves your drainage issues with minimal top soil disturbance and earthworks for your field, OptiSurface would be something I would look into. I've used this software to design fields for my clients and have had great results. Traditional land leveling won't work for most peoples applications. I had to upgrade to GPS recently due to the demand for what people are calling a variable grade solution. I have Trimble's Field Level II and I'm using the optisurface software for my designs. Works great and my customers aren't having to spend a fortune on earthworks any longer.
