It's a very easy split. When I was in good practice, I could have one split and back together pretty darn quick. The most disappointing thing is once you get to the pins, it only takes a couple minutes to correct the problem.
I remember pto pins breaking, but I can't remember whether 540 or 1000 didn't work. I seem to recall people using pennies to shim the pin.
