Bill...the pin pulls out to almost 1 inch in length and come to an abrute stop like it is contacting a flat surface on the other side of where the shaft bolts on to.. The drilled hole in the 1000rpm shaft is 1 1/8 inch deep.

Yes, I feel pressure on the pin when I compress it and if you turn the mounting contraption alittle, you can feel it engage.

If I understand you right, partial repair, if nessasary can be done out the back end BUT, if the pins are bent or broke, then the tractor needs to be split, is that right? Called my dealer and he told me that the only way to fix it if something needs repaired, is to split the tractor!....YUK! (another $1000 down the tube).......gonna be the most expensive 4010 around this area!...LOL

Yes, with the 1000 shaft on, I can turn the shaft by hand but have nothing with the pto lever engaged and the motor running.
