Wi | Rod! - 12/19/2013 17:08 A lot of you guys roll over and just take it and have determined DEF is an ok thing. Probably is the lessor evil of the Tier 4's. However, how many filters are in that system? Why do I know the mm size of the socket needed to take the five bolts out to get at the filters off the top of my head? Strainer from the tank is way to fine. When that computer de rates it hope you do not have to drive very far if you are already on the road, it will be a slow trip with a beeper going off that will drive you nuts. How many sensors are on that system to cause a problems? These systems are all new, wait until the sensors and connections begin to corrode. Gee I wonder what a muffler would cost someday? Looks like a joke to me, but with that said we are going to end up owning a bunch of them. Thank you environmental wackos may you take a bath in urea someday, they should have quit with Tier 3, it had most of the pollution removed and everyone could have lived happily ever after.
There are two filters on our tractors, a strainer and a main element with extremely long intervals. Never had to touch one yet on any of our tractors. The most hours we put on one was 2600hrs.
The catalysts are fairly maintenance free but will be expensive to replace when the time would ever come just like on anything else. Right now everything is still under warranty and prices seem ridiculous, I expect them to drop some when people are having to pay out of pocket.
I'd rather not have to deal with it, but feel I'd rather focus my efforts on making it easy to deal with in a day versus complaining about it and hoping it goes away.
tj_farmer - 12/19/2013 18:24 i will see if my brother has the pic he has of the hose that came apart ( just dripped) on our bulk tank of def. it worked over his bumper/bed on his truck pretty good as he didnt catch it for awhile (was white and starting to rust, prob cause the beds missing half the paint, but still)....im through my sec mini bulk this year already.
If you leave it on metal like that it will cause issues, it needs to be rinsed off right away. Enough biodiesel will also eat the paint off your truck too. |
