Sounds like an interesting experment Ed, I wonder if an ohmmeter with its very low voltage will give an accurate reading considering the heavy(epoxy ?) paint coating on the bead area of the rim ? Somthing many thousand volts of static electricity flashes right through,but the 1.5 volt battery voltage of a VOM has little chance of penetrating.
