The culligan I bought new in 1971 is still working fine, been repaired twice, one by me and once by Culligan. I do use the rock salt they reccomend.

+100 on the Culligan. My first one ran for 30 years with no parts and little maintenence, the second one 10 years old with 0 maintenence is even better.is much less complicated and even more reliable. The new one measures gallons and regenerates only after XXX gallons flow through. Uses about 1/2 the salt of the old one.
