I'm pretty sure the paradyme system on the 8335RT is just a plug and play also. I think your deere dealer is just trying to make a buck. Maybe see if they will let you demo one with deere steering to see which one you like better. Performance shouldn't be any different between the two. I wouldn't take a deere dealers word on other brands performance.
