Subject: Re: Cotton stripper versus cotton picker

Medicine Mound,TX
We ran 400 acres thru it this year. I can't really tell there is much of any wear on the spindles, but I am far from an expert. When it showed up the only experience I had with pickers was the hour I had talked to the guy we bought it from. The first day was interesting, there was a bit of a learning curve compared to strippers. After a few days of servicing and running it you get pretty comfortable with them. I still have a lot to learn.
I haven't gotten any grades from the picked cotton yet, most hasn't been ginned yet or is just being ginned. Our stripper cotton was grading very good (.56-57) so I can't see much of an improvement, but I could be wrong.
