I had one of those took it out after several years of standing on my head thawing out the peerer.  Little stuff would plug it up.  Put a Cobett in its place, job over.  Never will I EVER HAVE A VALVE AT THE TOP OF A WATERER again.  If anything ever goes wrong it is the first thing to go hard.  Ben
