Push rocks and root clumps in, they dont compact much because the psi of the roller flat on the soil is low until it rides up on a rock then all weight transfers to rock and pushes it down. In NE South Dakota i bet 90% or more of all soybeans planted get rolled before or a couple weeks after emergence.
