Carter Montana | The tool FarmWeather pointed out to you does work well but also correctly pointed out it is a big hassle. I usually go to edit layer and clip out the points I feel shouldn't be there either by clicking on individual points or using a polygon to select my points, and then deleting them. The Polygon tool is way faster. Its not to hard to see which points need to come out and it goes pretty good after awhile. If you need to scale the data do that before clipping or the points you clipped out will show up again if you scale later.
