Its not the same thing on a integra or insight either. Lots of times pulling the power cable you will hear a hissing sound... you dont hear that with a button shutdown.

Are you sure you don't mean display cable? I have seen one make awful sounds if the display cable is pulled, but loss of power (not the same as pulling the cable out of the backside of the display) has always simply resulted in a blank screen, and service mode on the next bootup.

My original statement was poorly worded. When I said, "Holding the button will force an improper shutdown. This is effectively the same thing as removing the power cable," I was speaking of electronic devices in general, not the Integra/Insight in specific. That is effectively what it does, it removes power without shutting down the operating system. Disconnecting the display cable does not do the same thing, as the display has some sort of backup power source internally that it does not get disconnected from this way.
