No. Clutch and the drive belt have nothing to do with each other 's adjustment.

Your variable speed drive should never have one belt tight and one loose. I think you adjust the position of the middle sheave by lengthening or shortening the length of the hydraulic cylinder clevis on the cylinder rod.
