Those too heavily invested in the declining aquifer have really struggled in the ongoing drought. Especially the dairies who bought too much high priced land that now does not have enough irrigation capacity. But that also involved high feed prices too. Compounded the problem. Couldn't grow enough of their own feed, had to buy expensive neighbors at high prices.

Otherwise, most folks around here are well established enough, the industry is pretty stable. It seems we weeded out a lot of operators in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
