Subject: Re: Why are weeds bad? ( Serious Question)

Galahad, Alberta
Here, where we are only ever 3 days away from a drought, weeds steal moisture. They also rob nutrients, and make harvest difficult. I want clean fields. Even when you have a crop other than the one planted growing, it's a weed. Ever see RR canola blooming in a wheat field in late august? Thats a big problem. I did a rotation of alfalfa through some of my fields a few years back, did wonders for the soil, and it took a while for all the alfalfa plants to finally get removed form the land. I didn't mind seeing the odd plant around, but was happy to not have them as they made harvest difficult.
