Douglass Kansas | We used to let all the winter annuals grow until 1 to 2 weeks before planting in spring, our fields would be almost solid purple in April with henbit, except in the wetter areas, which is a reason to plant a cover crop. Henbit comes up in fall and can actually make it easier to harvest soybean if it is late and wet. This no longer works very well as there was also marestail which has become difficult or imposable to control in spring. | |
