You might also want to check the water quality. We had a well that is solely used to water the milking animals. Found out that the grouting around the casing had failed (or was never done in the first place). When they drilled this well, they hit an old drain tile, but never repaired it. The water from the tile was going straight into the well and causing high bacteria. We would have never known, but had to dig it up to fix the pitless adapter. After I repaired the tile and sealed the caseing, the bacteria count went down and milk production went up by 20%.
