| I think you are misunderstanding these #s.
Crops grown in soils with high soil test K levels tend to acquire a high % of their total uptake of K from soil reserves as opposed to freshly applied fertilizer... and thus have low fertilizer K recovery #s.
Rather than focus on recovery #s, the goal should be to optimize crop uptake (regardless of source) and minimize environmental losses.
Low first year recovery is not a problem as long as the nutrients remain or become available for subsequent crops.
