The STS did have a lot of problems when they first come out but since then they have fixed the problems and is a very good unit. the big difference from the S2 and STS besides the screen is the memory. The S2 was able to run RTK where the STS can not. The STX is pretty much just like the S3 was. Outback no longer sales the STS or the S3 so if you are going to buy a new unit you will need to go with the STX or MAX
