| We actually haven't started harvesting that particular field yet, but we have other fields where we switched a variety (same brand) when we ran out in the middle of a field . In those fields, the monitor and sms came up with the same exact numbers as you'd expect since the as-planted data in the combine was so screwy. I haven't done any sort of analysis inside SMS (like you explained using the polygons and manually separating the data out) to see what the difference is but I can tell you that when you create the harvest data map in SMS, and change to look at the Product - Name it says it harvested, in a single 8 row swath, where there should be all 1 variety, it changes variety at random intervals. Our thought though, was even if it changes variety 1 time for a few feet, its assuming you are harvesting 8 rows of those few feet, so the data is not useable...
If I can remember, when I get back to the computer tonight, I will try to do an analysis to see how much of a difference there is between what the monitors variety tracker recorded and what the actual values are. | |
