southern MN
I live in MN, have some cattle, let them graze cornstalks. My winters have been 33 below zero, winds of 50 mph for half a day, 2 day blizzards, ice storms followed by a week of below zero.

I too was wondering how open range, huge pasture ranching works, that these cattle got in such trouble, when a tough winter storm in January is not uncommon. What is the difference?

Seems an honest question, no accusations in it, just curious how those wide open operations work, why summer is different from winter, etc.

I have same or worse winters here, wonder how their operations work is all.
