No, rubber pit cover is just slid over the top of the grates. I just slide it forward during dumping ops & it resides on the scale & becomes part of the "zeroed e.w.". Underneath the scale we had them install rubber belting about 8" wide that allows "dead area" between the scale grate area & the pit. The rubber belting assures corn goes into the pit without the pit interferring with the scale weight. I only have to wait a few moments while unloading to make sure corn pile disappears from above the scale grates before I snap an empty weight. Then the truck can leave.
