We have over a million gallons of fert through aim solenoids. Notice the Nject liquid system is made for fertilizer, same materials as aim solenoid. Different wattage and orifice. Same parts.
Wouldn't try VR topdressing without the system. Works great . Problem is you will limit out at the 1.2gpm per solenoid. Just put on a tip with the pattern you want that flows 1.2 at say 50psi. Now you can put on 10gpa at slow enough speeds and low pressure and still get your high rate work done up to the 1.2 limit. Works better than you could imagine. Don't use the needham bars because then pulsing of the solenoid won't fill the width of the bar. It will be heavy in the middle. Try a tee jet SJ7
Avoid stupid corrosive or bio based ferts if you can. Melted 0-0-60 can be a bitch. If you are really concerned pull the pistons when you are done and wash them up.
Put a couple hundred gallons of water through it before you store it after fertilizer work. Don't let questionable fert mixes sit in it over night if the temps are even remotely cool.
All said, you are completely safe to run liquid N through it. Farmer to farmer.
