Not worth a whole lot on the open market. More of a niche. See quite a few crossbreds go threw the local sale barn. Always feels like someone is trying to con someone else when they go through the sale. The crossbreds or "low lines" will sometimes finish at a decent weight. Most are in the 900lb or less area. Depends on what your looking for. The ones that I have been around we're not gentle and genuine jerks. Same goes for highlanders, if you read Mother Earth or any of the homesteader rags highlanders are on the top of the list for hobby farms. Around here they are on the top of the list for rodeo cattle. Disagreeable, nasty sobs that I wouldn't trust around anybody new to cattle. My opinion is find a nice small framed herford cow 9 times out of 10 she will be gentle and you can breed her how ever you want. Lowline herford or black baldy calf are both easily attainable.
