The biggest mistake is to look for the 80s to happen the way they did.... Markets don't repeat themselves exactly... As a magician moves..... Everyone is looking for the hand to pull the rabbit out of the hat yet the real move is made with the other hand...
The tight squeeze will happen... But I highly doubt it will happen the same way the 80s did... How many will believe the "crash will happened with 1.5% interest rates??? Nobody that lived through he 80s.. Yet the "crash will happen with low interest rates. Big moneys too smart to let the same exact scenario happen again...
Farmers... Look at the other "right" hand making the move.. Everyone's looking at the left hand.
Very good observation. Interest rates will not be what gets the farmer this time. We proved that this week. The hounds may come as high inputs and dropping prices, look at this year. It's blown budgets by at least $100-200 acre. What are farmers that don't have a RA type crop ins. policy going to do? How about next year locked into $400 or $500 cash rent? |
