Has to be a problem with the back light. I haven't specifically heard of that happening on Cruizer II, but I've heard of them going out on other things with lots and lots of hours on them. Sounds like you were unlucky. Have you called your dealer? If they've got another one on the shelf, they may be able to work it out where they can just swap you out.
